Reading and Gardening Break

For several days I'll be gone. It will be a little vacation I will spend in the countryside. We have so much to do there. In the garden we have the most work.
Today, while I was packing for our trip, the postman brought me a book I ordered two weeks ago. I only browse it, but I saw I was right to buy it.

It's a precious source for studying pieced blocks and learning their names but most of all it provides clear instructions in six different sizes for each block.

The book was printed in 2008 and was designed for the quilters who love both old patterns and modern techniques.

Unfortunately, Judy Hopkins is no longer living.
I am grateful to her because I have on hand such valuable reference book.

Santa Claus is coooomiiiiing to toooown!

I know, I know, we are just a day away from  February, but I just received a little parcel and our poor-almost-frozen-Postman looked like Santa in front of my door!
What brought me Mr. Postman-Santa?
This:

A book. A special book.
Why it is special?
Because it can be considered  "The who's who of quilting today": Rachel May gathered in it more than 70 of the most talented quilt artists to emphasize the styles of modern quilting and to encourage even those who have never sewn a stitch before, to give it a go. 
Take a look at the table of contents of the book. A lot of inspiration!

In chapter 7, "Coming full circle" the green hand is pointing you a name. Do you see it? ...page 192...

I only browsed the book. I  will read it leisurely tonight. The cake of my day!

Goodbye, 2012!

Santa gave me a wonderful gift this year: a book I have wanted for a long time.
That's why I use one of its illustrations to say Goodbye to 2012 and make my New Year greetings for you

 

....and because this little boy reminds  me of my son when he was that age...
